Good salespeople will directly contribute to an organisation's profitability.  However, good salespeople need to have a combination of selling skills and selling behaviours.

Many salespeople are placed in selling positions because they seem to get on well with people, whilst others are put into selling positions because they have good knowledge about the organisations products or services.  Salespeople need to be upskilled on a frequent basis if they are to remain leading edge and ahead of the competition.

Selling is an art form and there are many component skills and behaviours that need to complement one another in order for a salesperson to be truly exceptional and thereby maximising their profit potential.
